In this 2 week class we will create a simple and elegant Regency era dress together, inspired by extant originals!

Step by step I will walk you through the process and show you everything you need to know.

- how to choose the right materials

- create a mockup

- cut your fabrics

- put the dress together

- hand sewing techniques

- different sewing & finishing techniques

 

CLASS FORMAT

The class will be taught LIVE in two lessons (=5 hours), where I will demonstrate the creation process in real time!

You will receive an assignment at the end of each class to prepare over the week.

You will of course have the opportunity to ask questions during class, which I will answer live, plus each course member gets 30 minutes 1-on-1 support from me in a Skype session!

You will be required to purchase your materials and pattern separately. A complete list of materials will be emailed to you when you book your place.

The pattern used in this class is "NP406 Regency Open Robe" by Nehelenia Patterns, available here as a print version and download version.

​

Please note: the construction process will be modern rather than historical, and sewing machine based, but also some handsewing will be required.

​

Requirements to take this class: basic sewing skills are required, as well as a set of Regency undergarments of your choice to fit your dress over. This can be a bodiced petticoat, or a chemise and short stays. You can also fit it to modern underwear, but it will look best with period undergarments. Ideally you will also already own an underdress to wear your Open Robe with, although this can be made at a later date.
